ICS COVID-19 UPDATE AS AT 31 AUGUST AND 6 SEPTEMBER 2020

Circular Ref: A(20)165

Apologies for having missed out on sending you the update from 31 August.

Members are invited to note the information provided by the WHO for 6 September 2020, received via the ICS Secretariat.

216 countries have now reported 26,763,217 confirmed cases of COVID-19.1644528 (6.14%) additional cases were confirmed since 6 days ago. If you work out against a 7-day week, this would mean an average of 274088 cases per day or 1918616 cases for a 7-day week; a rise in cases compared to last week. There have also been 32,304 (3.68%) additional deaths in the last 6 days.  If compared to a 7-day week, this would mean an average 37,688 deaths for a 7-day week which is a slight drop over the previous week.

However, many countries still cannot report all cases due to insufficient testing equipment so numbers will be considerably higher. 11 Countries are also now declaring themselves COVID-19 free compared to 9 last week.

Members are also invited to note that Intertanko have revised their Outbreak Management Plan.
