UPDATE ON CANAL RELATED ISSUES OF INTEREST TO INDUSTRY

Attached are two circulars regarding the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal which will be of interest to Owners and Shipmanagers who have ships transiting the canals.
The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) recently published a circular 6/2020, advising of a 48% rebate on normal Suez Canal tolls, issued to VLCC and ULCC’s , provided they meet certain loading and transit specifications. This circular is attached at Annex A .
With respect to the Panama Canal, the ICS attended a recent webinar in which Dr Ricaurte Vasquez Morales (Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority) was a speaker where he provided an update about the ACP Water Conservation Strategy. Members may recall from a previous circular that the ICS Secretariat has been engaged in dialogue with Dr Morales on the ongoing issues surrounding this Strategy. Please see a circular from the ICS explaining the current situation.
