“Think Maritime” (航運與我)

Circular Ref: A(20)228

We have pleasure to advise you that the Association book “Think Maritime” has been updated and revised.

As you may (or may not) be aware, the book was first published in 2016, giving a description of the maritime industry and the various maritime professions, with the objective of increasing the awareness of the community, especially our young people and school students, about the exciting future as well as the valuable contribution of the industry.

While the book will be distributed to our target audience at suitable functions and occasions in the next couple of months/years, two copies of which will be sent to each Association member company. I am sure you will find the book useful and helpful for internal purposes, including training purpose. (Further copies of the book can be obtained in our office. An online version will also be put on the Association website shortly.)

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following parties:

- the government's Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (MATF) for sponsoring the publication of the book;

- the Transport and Housing Bureau, the Hong Kong Marine Department, and various government and non-government organisations for providing the information and data;

- the members of the Association’s Maritime Education and Training (MET) Sub-committee for steering the project;

- Mr Arthur Bowring, former Association Managing Director and Senior Consultant, for supporting our research and writing tasks;

- Mr Martin Cresswell, Mr Frank He, Captain Marso Law and Mr Edward Liu for acting as the editorial advisors; and

- last but not least, the many “young” Association members who have offered their valuable inputs on the book design.

A big, big thank you.

I wish you all enjoy reading the book!
