Priority vaccination for local workers in maritime and port sectors

Circular Ref: A(21)34

As you may know, the Government has announced the arrangements for the territory-wide COVID-19 vaccination programme, with priority given to certain high-risk groups, in light of the recommendations of the government health experts.

We have gathered that so far as the maritime and port sectors are concerned, local workers in the maritime and port sectors who may have contacts of crew members onboard visiting ocean-going vessels or river trade vessels in the course of operation have been identified as a priority group for receiving COVID-19 vaccines on a voluntary basis. Specifically, the following workers are included:

(a) Kwai Tsing Container Terminals

(b) River trade terminal

(c) Public cargo working areas

(d) Cross-border ferry operators

(e) Hong Kong licensed pilots

(f) Frontline operators of local vessels which offer support services to ocean-going vessels, including bunker, reprovisioning and fresh water supply, ship repair, shuttle services for sign-on and sign-off crew, classification societies, mid-stream operators, shipping agents, etc.

Meanwhile, the Transport and Housing Bureau (THB) and the Marine Department have issued letters to relevant companies and organisations, advising them of the arrangements for priority vaccination and encouraging them to ask eligible workers to join the vaccination programme in the interest of both themselves and the community. (A sample of the letters is attached for your reference.)

The THB has further advised that for enquiries about the vaccination programmes, individual companies and organisations may call the hotline on 3142 2366.

For your attention please.
