(URGENT/IMPORTANT) Priority Groups for Quarantine-Free Travel to the Mainland - supplementary information
Circular Ref: A(21)235
Issue Date: 10 Dec 2021
Please refer to Association circular ref: A(21)234 yesterday.
We have received some member enquiries, and would like to offer the following advice:
1. The new scheme is a Government scheme, and the Government has yet to announce the implementation details including the implementation date. In any case, it is entirely the prerogative of the Government, not the Association, as to whether or not individual names submitted through the Association will be considered and granted quarantine-free travel to the Mainland.
2. The role of the Association is to assist the Government in coordinating names from the Association membership who are interested to join the scheme, once implemented.
3. Hence, if you are interested in the scheme, please follow strictly the Government requirements as set out in the Association circular.
4. In particular, please submit not more than two names per member company, as the Association secretariat is not in a position to make a judgement as to which two names (from the many names) of a member company be put to the Government for processing.
5. And please do pay attention to the advice of the Transport and Housing Bureau, as conveyed through the Association circular, that as the quotas are limited, “eligible persons nominated under priority groups might not be guaranteed for a quarantine-free quota”.
6. Hence, when you plan your travel schedules (especially the urgent ones), please do take into account the above advice.
Last but not least, to facilitate our coordination work, please send the application forms and support documents in reply directly to the Association circular ref: A(21)234. Please avoid sending any names, application forms and/or support documents to individual Association secretariat staff, including myself.
We would be grateful for your attention and understanding.
