Priority Groups for Quarantine-Free Travel to the Mainland

Circular Ref: A(21)244

Subsequent to our circulars on the captioned subject, we have received responses from quite many member companies.

We have already submitted the names of company nominees and their support documents to the Government for processing.

Please find attached a list of the member companies that have put their nominations through the Association. Please quickly let us know,  just in the (unlikely) event that -

(a) the total number of your company nominees is incorrect;

(b) your company name has not been included in the list despite that you have already sent in your nominations, together with the support documents, to the Association.

Again, to facilitate our coordination work, if you do need to advise us on the above (unlikely) situation, please write directly in reply to this circular. Please avoid writing to the email boxes of individual Association secretariat staff, including myself. (We would be grateful for your understanding.)

As the Association Secretariat continues to receive member enquiries these days, I take the opportunity to reiterate, once again, the following advice that we have given in the previous circulars:

- The new scheme is a Government scheme, and the Government has yet to announce the implementation details including the implementation date. In any case, it is entirely the prerogative of the Government, not the Association, as to whether or not individual names submitted through the Association will be considered and granted quarantine-free travel to the Mainland.

- The role of the Association is to assist the Government in coordinating names from the Association membership who are interested to join the scheme, once implemented. Hence, members joining the scheme must follow strictly the Government requirements.

- The Transport and Housing Bureau has advised that  as the quotas are limited, “eligible persons nominated under priority groups might not be guaranteed for a quarantine-free quota”.

- When the nominees plan their travel schedules (especially the urgent ones), they should take into account the above advice.

Last but not least, while we will members posted about any new development, we trust the Government will liaise directly with individual nominees on any necessary follow-up action. Hence, the Association secretariat are destroying all the personal data that have been collected for the scheme.

Thank you for your attention. The Association will continue to make every effort to promote the interest of the industry.
