Reduction of GHG emissions and related issues - a briefing session

Circular Ref: A(23)74

As you know, the Association is an active member of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). Through the ICS, the Association regularly gathers up-to-date information to consult its membership for formulating views on various issues of interest/concern to the shipping industry.

These months, there are lots of discussion in the global shipping arena particularly on these greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction issues: the proposed mid-term measures of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), the emissions trading scheme (ETS) of the European Union, and the new IMO carbon intensity framework.

The Association secretariat would like to conduct a briefing session to update you on the developments. The details are as follows -

Date:     Friday, 12 May 2023

Time:     2.30 pm – 4.30pm

Venue:   Conference room, China Merchants Group, 35th floor, China Merchants Tower, Shun Tak Centre, 168 – 200 Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong

The meeting will be hosted by me and the secretariat professional staff.

If you and/or your colleagues are interested, please let us have the names and posts by sending a reply to this circular not later than 8 May so that we may assess attendance and reserve seats for you and/or your colleagues. (The secretariat will not call you to confirm the enrolment, unless there are any changes to the logistical arrangements.)
