Please find attached IMO Circular Letter No 4857, dated 28th March, detailing amendments to Marpol Annex VI for adoption at MEPC82 (30 September to 4 October 2024).

They cover the designation of the Canadian Arctic and the Norwegian Sea as Emission Control Areas for Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Oxides and Particulate Matter, as appropriate. For ships entering the new Norwegian Sea Emission Control Area, please note there is a new designation of a ship constructed on or after 1 March 2026 which is based on the building contact date or keel laid on or after 30th Sept 2026 or delivery on or after 1st March 2030.
