Updates on proposals for enhancement of maritime tax concessions and half-rate tax concession for commodity trading

As members may be aware, in the 2025-26 Budget, the HKSAR Government announced it would introduce

(1) further enhancements to the existing tax concessions for the maritime services industry as well as

(2) a half-rate tax concessionary regime for commodity trading businesses, with a view to driving up the maritime service development.

We are pleased to update you that the Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB) has presented the detailed proposals for the aforesaid initiatives at the Legislative Council Panel on Economic Development on 8 July 2025 (last Tuesday), and all seven Legislative Council Members who spoke at the Panel Meeting had rendered full support to the proposals.
