Seminar on Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sale of Ships (known as Beijing Convention) on 22 May 2026

Circular Ref: A(26)57

You are cordially invited to the captioned Seminar of the Asian Academy of International Law and AAIL Foundation, supported by the Hong Kong Shipowners Association.

Judicial sale has always been a crucial enforcement mechanism in maritime commerce. The United Nations Convention the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ship, commonly known as the “Beijing Convention”, entered into force on 17 February 2026. It aims to establish a harmonised regime for giving international effect to judicial sales that confer clean titles, including registry action, deletion of pre-sale mortgages and registered charges, as well as protection against arrest for claims arising before the sale.

The seminar will be held on 22 May 2026 at 6pm, followed by a networking reception, in the former French Mission Building, Central, Hong Kong.

The programme and registration details are attached.

Thank you for your attention.
