Association Table Tennis Fun Day and Tournament - Q & A

Circular Ref: A(21)153

Thank you for your enthusiastic response to this new event of the Association!

We have received some member enquiries about the logistics. These are the details:

1. The age limits. For the team competition (men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles), there are no age limits. For the individual competitions (men’s singles and women’s singles), there are age limits for different competition groups, which are now broadly classified as “Youth”, “Master” and “Senior”.

2. For the team competition, each member company may put up to 10 names. For the individual competitions, each member company may also put up to 10 names, which may or may not be the same as in the team competition. Hence, theoretically, each member company may have a maximum of 20 names joining the event.

3. The number of rounds for each competition category would depend on the enrolments. Possibly, for each category, there will be a preliminary round, a semi-quarter final, a quarter-final, a semi-final, and a final round.

4. Trophies will be awarded for the champions, 1st runner-ups and 2nd runner-ups of the various competition categories. Other prizes may also be available for athletes in the quarter-final and semi-final rounds.

5. For the team competition, there are three matches in each round (one for men’s doubles, one for women’s doubles, and one for mixed doubles). After putting the (maximum 10) names to the Association, a member company may, on the spot, decide which names should represent the company in the three matches in each round. (The same name may join the mixed doubles and mens/women’s doubles.)

6. While the event is free-of-charge, all guests and participants are encouraged to make a small donation (of no less than $100 per person) to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum to support its work. During the two days, a box will be put at the reception to collect the donations (cash or cheques payable “Hong Kong Maritime Museum”). As the donations will be tax-deductible, please advise the receptionist should you require a tax receipt.

We hope you find the above helpful. And please also refer to the circular (attached) for enrolment.

Last but not least, we would like to thank, once again, the event sponsors – China Merchants Energy Shipping Company Limited, K C Maritime Hong Kong Limited, and Pacific Basin Shipping (HK) Limited.
