Association’s Director of Regulatory Affairs

As you may know, Captain Gautam Ramaswamy, Director of Regulatory Affairs (DRA), will leave the Association by the end of this month. On behalf of secretariat colleagues, I would like to thank Captain Ramaswamy, once again, for his dedication and support to the team.
Through an open recruitment exercise, the Association has appointed Captain Nittin Handa for the DRA position.
Captain Handa started his maritime career as a Navigating Officer Cadet with Univan Ship Management in 1996, where he sailed through the ranks, primarily on bulk carriers and oil and chemical tanker vessels of various sizes, including VLCCs. He gained command in 2010 and sailed as Captain on some of Univan Ship Management's flagship vessels at the time.
In 2011, Captain Handa moved to Univan Ship Management's head office in Hong Kong, as a Marine Superintendent, looking after the marine operations & QHSE functions for the company's fleet of vessels. In 2015, he took on the responsibilities of handling the SIRE, CDI, & Rightships inspections for the fleet at Univan as Vetting Manager. After the merger of Anglo-Eastern & Univan, he was promoted to Senior QHSE Manager and given charge of the QHSE function of the Anglo-Eastern Tanker Management in 2019.
Captain Handa completed his Post-Graduation in Executive Maritime Management from the prestigious World Maritime University - Sweden in 2019. He is also an Associate Fellow of Nautical Institute and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
