BRIEFING WEBINAR: A Guide to IMO GHG Short-Term Measures Leadership Insights Briefing Webinar - Thursday 17 November 2022
Following the last International Chamber of Shipping Board Meeting it was requested that, with the upcoming array of new regulations coming into place surrounding reducing GHG emissions, some clarity and understanding be given to help shipowners navigate through the hazy regulatory landscape.
On Thursday 17 November ICS is holding a Leadership Insights Briefing webinar, ‘A Guide to IMO GHG Short-Term Measures’, to offer guidance and insight on compliance requirements and the upcoming regulatory obligations.
The MARPOL amendments relating to IMO’s SEEMP part III and the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) have come into force and the deadlines are fast approaching. Additionally the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) is already in place and regulatory commitments can be unclear. It is vital that shipowners understand what needs to be done and have a complete picture moving forward.
At the webinar briefing industry experts will explain what the regulatory obligations that these measures impose are. The webinar will also explore the practical steps that shipowners can take to ensure compliance.
Stuart Neil, ICS Director of Strategy and Communications, will be moderating the session and joining him is Edwin Pang, Founder and Principal Consultant at Arcsilia Ltd, Chris Waddington, Technical Director at the ICS, and Dr Shuang Zhang, Associate Professor at the Shipping Development Research Institute of Dalian Maritime University (DMU).

Identifying the need for clarity on the ever evolving regulatory backdrop ICS will also be publishing a new publication that guides readers through the first steps on the route to decarbonisation: preparing for compliance with the IMO regulatory framework, and in particular, the 2021 amendments to MARPOL Annex VI.
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: A Guide to IMO Regulatory Compliance sets out plainly what the key regulatory changes are for shipowners, operators and managers. For more information on the upcoming publication please click here
