Economic impact study for Hong Kong’s maritime and port industry

Circular Ref: A(22)251

With your inputs and government support, the Association has, together with its research partner – the PolyU Maritime Library and R&D Centre, completed the study on the Indirect and Induced contributions of Hong Kong’s maritime and port industry for the year 2020.

As you may know, our study was based on the research findings released by the government, in August this year, on the Direct contribution of the industry for the same assessment year – 2020.

Please find attached, for your reference, the government’s study report.

Please also find attached, for your reference, our study report (which contains an executive summary).

The Association project is likely to be the first study on this or a related subject ever done in Hong Kong. We trust the findings give a fuller picture of the economic impact of the local maritime and port industry.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the Association members and other industry stakeholders who have kindly given their inputs and/or professional advice for the project.
