Government promulgates Action Plan on Maritime and Port Development Strategy.

Circular Ref: A(23)223

As members are aware, the Government (Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB)) had undertaken a study to develop a strategy and an Action Plan on the Maritime and Port Development in Hong Kong few months ago.

On 20th December, the TLB promulgated the Action Plan on Maritime and Port Development Strategy to formulate strategies and action measures to support the sustainable development needs of the maritime and port industry in Hong Kong, with a view to enhancing the industry’s long-term competitiveness.

The Action Plan sets out 10 strategies and 32 action measures in four directions to consolidate and enhance Hong Kong’s position as an International Maritime Centre:

  1. enhancing port competitiveness;
  2. strengthening high-value-added maritime services;
  3. enhancing the promotion of Hong Kong maritime brand and grooming talent;
  4. enhancing the support of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB),

Please find attached the presentation and annex document outlining the Action plan as published by TLB. Also attached is the detailed Action Plan Booklet published by TLB.

The detailed Action plan booklet also contains the timelines for the 32 action measures identified in this plan.

We thank the HKSOA members who actively participated in this study for their time and for lending their voice to making the most pertinent issues being faced by the industry heard.
