Circular Ref: A(21)183
Issue Date: 15 Oct 2021
As you may already be aware, the Association will host the inaugural Greater Bay Maritime Forum during the Hong Kong Maritime Week and Hong Kong Legal Week this year. On behalf of Mr Hing Chao, Convenor of the Forum and Vice Chairman of the Association China Sub-committee, I would like to cordially invite you to this major event. (Attendance is by invitation only and will be free-of-charge for all the guest participants.)
The event will be held on Monday, 1 November 2021 from 3.30pm to 6.45pm in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (room S421).
In both the national Five-Year Plan and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) development plan, Hong Kong’s status as an international financial, shipping and trade centre has been reaffirmed. At this turning point in the new era, we consider it a great opportunity to set out a new vision for Hong Kong maritime community, with a view to promoting the growth of the industry through knowledge and innovation, as well as consolidating our strategic position in the Hong Kong – GBA – China – World axis.
The Forum, under the theme “A Turning Point in the New Era", will feature keynote speeches from senior officials of the HKSAR Government and Guangzhou Port Authority, the President of the BIMCO, and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association. There will also be expert panel discussions on three major topics :
(1) the integration of commercial principals and maritime services into the GBA,
(2) the transformation of the industry within the GBA through decarbonisation and digitalisation, and
(3) grooming talent and building a maritime culture in the GBA.
A list of the speakers is attached.
It would be our great pleasure if you and your colleagues and guests could join us, either onsite or online, on this major occasion to exchange views on the GBA issues of interest to stakeholders in the GBA and global community. Owing to the venue capacity and pandemic-control restrictions, seats for onsite participation will be reserved on a first-register-first-reserved basis.
