RISK INTELLIGENCE MONTHLY REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 2021
Circular Ref: O(21)51
Issue Date: 03 Sep 2021
Please find attached the Risk Intelligence Monthly Report for September 2021 provided at Annex A.
This month’s focus section provides a short look at the situation in Iran after the inauguration of new President Ebrahim Raisi, who has been described as a ‘hardliner’ whose presidency has been interpreted as likely to lead to more aggressive Iranian policies. The situation, however, remains complex and the overall security dynamics across the Middle East are changing as well, which could also have an impact on merchant vessels transiting the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman or the Red Sea. The report also provides an overview of incidents that took place between August 1 – 31, 2021, in West Africa, the Western Indian Ocean (including the Persian Gulf) and South East Asia.
In accordance with the scope of the agreement between ICS and Risk Intelligence, members are requested not to circulate the report further in its entirety to third parties.
