RISK INTELLIGENCE MONTHLY REPORT JUNE 2023 AND NORTHERN BLACK SEA REPORT 8 JUNE

Circular Ref: A(23)105

Please find attached at Annex A the Risk Intelligence Monthly Report for June 2023 and at Annex B the Northern Black Sea Report of 8 June.

This month’s report looks at recent vessel detentions by Iran and the similarities to previous cases. Three separate cases in April and May have once again thrown the spotlight onto this particular threat in the Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf area. The report also covers incidents that took place between May 1-31 in West Africa, the Western Indian Ocean, and Southeast Asia. The Northern Black Sea Report assessment section puts the week's main incidents into a broader context to highlight current threat levels and potential changes for maritime operations. The report also contains a port status overview and forecast that cover the main concerns going forward, as well as a map over the Maritime Humanitarian Corridor.

In accordance with the scope of the agreement between ICS and Risk Intelligence, members are requested not to circulate the report further in its entirety. Members may precis the report or use extracts from it to help advise members on key issues or to assist in enquiries. In such cases Risk Intelligence should be acknowledged as the source of the information.
