RISK INTELLIGENCE REPORTS - 21-22nd May
Members are invited to consider the most recent Risk Intelligence reports provided at the annexes as follows:
· Annex A – Red Sea Updates
· Annex B – Northern Black Sea Updates
Annex A summarises the most recent security updates in the Red Sea, where the situation remains stable following the US-Houthi ceasefire. The Houthi-announced “maritime blockade” on Haifa port in Israel is not expected to alter the situation in the area due to the Houthi’s limited ability to strike at long distances. There has also been an increase in concerns about signals interference harming civilian maritime traffic. This interference is most likely due to electronic warfare systems in the area.
Annex B provides updates on the Black Sea security situation, which has also remained stable in the past week. Regular Russian bombings of Ukrainian critical infrastructure are ongoing, although strikes against port infrastructure have diminished over the past few months. However, due to the continuation of these strikes, future attacks against ports remain a possibility.
In accordance with the scope of the agreement between ICS and Risk Intelligence, members are requested not to circulate the report further in its entirety. Members may precis the report or use extracts from it to help advise members on key issues or to assist in enquiries.
