RISK INTELLIGENCE REPORTS- MID AUGUST
Members are invited to consider the most recent Risk Intelligence reports provided at the annexes as follows:
· Annex A – Mid East Updates
· Annex B – Northern Black Sea Updates
Annex A describes the Mid East security situation over the last week, where no new major maritime incidents have occurred. The reported detention of a product tanker in the Gulf of Oman by Iranian forces fits into the long-term pattern of Iranian law enforcement behaviour in the area and is not a cause for concern. Additionally, monthly traffic levels through the Red Sea have remained virtually unchanged since February 2024.
Annex B summarises the security situation in the Black Sea over the past week, where Russian forces have continued to target Ukrainian infrastructure. While most of the infrastructure being targeted is housing and transportation, there is a possibility that maritime infrastructure may still be attacked.
In accordance with the scope of the agreement between ICS and Risk Intelligence, members are requested not to circulate the report further in its entirety. Members may precis the report or use extracts from it to help advise members on key issues or to assist in enquiries. In such cases, Risk Intelligence should be acknowledged as the source of the information.
