The first HKSOA sponsored seminar in many months was held on 11th November, bringing members attention to Germagic, an antibacterial product invented and manufactured in Hong Kong that can be used onboard ships to provide protection for up to 90 days.
GERMAGIC™ THYME utilizes the Multilevel Antimicrobial Polymer (MAP-1) coating technology which was developed by a team led by Prof. Yeung King Lun of the HKUST-CIL Joint Laboratory of Innovative Environmental Health Technologies. The laboratory test results show that GERMAGIC™ THYME can inactivate up to 99.9 percent of highly infectious viruses such as measles, mumps and rubella, and up to 99.9 percent of SARS-CoV-2 the one responsible for the COVID-19 epidemic.
