On 17 May, HKSOA and ABS jointly organized a seminar on Avoidable deficiencies in Port State Control inspections. In an effort to identify owners who are potentially operating substandard ships, Port State Regimes have increased their inspections of foreign vessels over the past several years. Port State Control Officers (PSCOs) are also focusing very heavily on the ineffective implementation of a vessel’s Safety Management System (SMS), which is solely the responsibility of the respective crew and officers.

Hong Kong Marine Department and ABS gave valuable information to members and friends on this important topic.
