Relaxation of Visa Requirement for Nationals of the Republic of Nicaragua and Solomon Islands
We wish to inform you that the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has notified the Association of a relaxation of the visa requirement applicable to nationals of the Republic of Nicaragua and the Solomon Islands, with effect from 26 August 2026.
Current Position
At present, nationals of Nicaragua and the Solomon Islands are required to hold a visa to visit Hong Kong, unless they are in transit and remain on the airside.
Change with Effect from 26 August 2026
With effect from 26 August 2026, all nationals of Nicaragua and the Solomon Islands may visit Hong Kong visa-free for a stay of up to 30 days.
Relevance to Members
Members with crew, officers, or other personnel who are nationals of Nicaragua or the Solomon Islands, or whose vessels may call at Hong Kong with such nationals on board, should take note of this change when planning crew changes, shore leave, and related immigration formalities from the effective date onward.
