On 27-30 September 2018, a 30-member delegation of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, led by Chairman Mr Jack Hsu, paid a visit to Beijing. The delegation met with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Transport, the Maritime Safety Administration, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Zhongjun Junhong Group. During the meetings, views were exchanged on various policy, regulatory, technical and environmental issues of concern to the Hong Kong maritime community including, among others, the 2020 global sulphur cap, emission reduction, ship recycling, smart shipping and ship security. There were also in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities for shipping and shipping-related sectors arising from national plans such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Greater Bay Area Development and the Free Trade Port scheme in the Mainland.

During the visit, Association delegates were also invited to the National Day dinner banquet held in the People’s Great Hall on 28 September.

Since 2016, the Association has organized delegation visits to Beijing annually, for understanding more about recent developments in the Mainland and for the purpose of professional, information and technical exchange.

2018年9月27-30日，香港船東會由主席許積臯先生率領一行30人的代表團到訪北京。代表團拜訪了國家法發改委、國務院港澳事務辦公室、交通運輸部、海事局、中船工業集團、中船重工集團、中國工商銀行及中國保安協會。 會面期間，各方就香港航運界關注的多個政策、規管、技術和環境等課題交換了意見，其中包括2020年全球限硫令、減排、船舶再循環、智能船舶和海上保安等議題。此外，亦就來自國家推行的“一帶一路”倡議、大灣區發展和內地自由港等計劃，對航運界及相關行業所帶來的挑戰和機遇進行了深入的討論。

訪京期間， 香港船東會代表團也獲邀出席了9月28日在人民大會堂舉行的國慶晚宴。

自2016年以來，香港船東會每年都組織代表團訪京，了解國情，並且進行專業交流、資訊交流和技術交流。
