The ASA Seafarers' Committee met online (e-meeting) for its 26th Interim Meeting on Friday, 14 April 2021. The Association was represented by the Deputy Director, Mr Gilbert Feng and the Director - Regulatory Affairs, Captain Gautam Ramaswamy. Key issues discussed in the meeting included: - Local Seafarer Development
- STCW Convention and the outcome of the seventh session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW 7).
- Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, with special reference to seafarer wellbeing and the calls for designating seafarers as “key/essential” workers.
- Seafarer mental health issues.
