This joint seminar aimed to outline the marine risk and insurance update for Association members. Mr. Bozidar Ljubisavljevic, Regional Marine Chief Client Officer of Howden Insurance Brokers reviewed certain key exclusions from P&I insurance cover, and the need for SOL (Shipowners’ Liability) insurance as an extension to mutual P&I cover in an increasingly volatile operational environment.

Similarly, Mr. Ben Simpson, Associate Director of Marine, Cargo & Logistics of Howden Insurance Brokers offered an overview of the Hull & Machinery (H&M) insurance market, setting out the results from key reporting markets of Lloyd’s of London, CEFOR and IUMI, and drawing on claims and premium trends to identify market direction.

Lastly, through getting data and analysis from P&I insurance market update and P&I Clubs’ results in the lead up to the February 2025 renewal and general increase announcements, shipowners should hopefully be in a better position to negotiate with their P&I Clubs for the coming 2025 renewal period.
