RISK INTELLIGENCE REPORTS 5th March
Members are invited to consider the most recent Risk Intelligence reports provided at the annexes as follows:
· Annex A – Monthly Intelligence Report
· Annex B – Red Sea Updates
· Annex C – Northern Black Sea Updates
Annex A details the current state of maritime security, and important updates in geopolitics from the last month. This month’s focus are the capabilities of the Houthis and analysis as to when shipping will be able to safely return to the Gulf of Aden. As the situation stands, a longer period of sustained cessation of attacks and a more solid ceasefire in Gaza is necessary for increased confidence in returning to Red Sea routes.
Annex B provides the most recent update on the Red Sea security situation. Despite the ceasefire expiring, the Houthis have made no moves to restart their Red Sea campaign, suggesting they have little intention of resuming attacks.
Annex C provides an update on the Black Sea security situation, noting that the security situation remains unchanged, and that the attack on the MSC LEVANTE F on 1 March was likely the result of Russian forces seeking to prove they have the capability to conduct such attacks.
In accordance with the scope of the agreement between ICS and Risk Intelligence, members are requested not to circulate the report further in its entirety. Members may precis the report or use extracts from it to help advise members on key issues or to assist in enquiries. In such cases, Risk Intelligence should be acknowledged as the source of the information.
